As we all know, one of the most famous elements within a scene space are undoubtedly the planets, and in this tutorial that will learn how to make a Gaseous Planet type. This tutorial is not as simple as the above, since you have to apply some personal taste when it comes to apply one effect, but I’m sure they will do so.

1. Created a new image and make a background of stars. If you do not know how this is done, you can see it in the Tutorial on Space.
2. Created a new layer on the bottom of the image and taking the default colors chosen (for this we press the D key) let’s Filter> Render> Clouds. Then press CTRL + U and marking the option that says Colorize, we give the color texture we want for our planet. In the example values are:
HUE: 30, Saturation: 50, Lightness: 0.
3. Took the tool selection Circular and holding down SHIFT, make a selection of a perfect circle covering a part of the image. Invert the selection (SHIFT + CTRL + I) and press DELETE.
Then Deselect (CTRL + D).
4. Now, the fact that a gas planet is plagued by air currents swirling, at times, most of the planet’s surface. To simulate this, along with the tool selection Circular, we have a small selection ( Select> Feather ) with a value of 16 pixels . We return with 16 pixels to smooth again.
Now let Filter> Distort> Twirl and we apply the effect with a value between 100 ° and 200 ° , so it is not very pronounced. We have to do this several times if we want our planet does not have a “look uniform.”
5. Pressing the CTRL, I make a click on the layer where we have the Metro, to select it. Then go to Filter> Distort> Spherize and we apply the effect to 100% of value.
Now, decrease the selection ( Select> Modify> Contract ) 3 or 4 pixels , the smoothed ( Select> Feather ) 2 or 3 pixels and invest ( SHIFT + CTRL + I ).
Finally we press DELETE, for we have left the edges of the planet a little fuzzy.
6. The latter effect gives a little more realism to the image. Go to Filter> Render> Lighting Effects and we apply the effect to the options you can in the following image.
7. That should be all. You can also do more things, like applying an effect of “atmosphere “similar to putting the planet under the same layer, and apply a Blur. Another thing you can do is make a couple of rings, as planets like Saturn.
