Create a CD with Photoshop

Have you ever had the need to put something on a page and scan it impossible?. The CD or Compact Disc is one of them, but thanks to Photoshop, is not a problem to create one from scratch.

This is another tutorial a bit more advanced than the rest because some steps are not explained 100% like them, plus I explain well above the use of guides and rules, so it is advisable to have done any of the previous tutorials. Any questions you have, feel free to post it in the Discussion Forum Tutorials.

Tips:

Create a CD with Photoshop

Create a CD with Photoshop

1. Started with a new document 400×400 pixels and create a Layer again.

Pressing CTRL + R activate the Rules (Rulers) in Photoshop; this will enable us to use the Guide (Guides).

Clicking on one of the Rules and dragging the mouse inside the image, create a guide horizontally and vertically right in the center of the image.

Now using the Selection Circular, and holding down the keys SHIFT + ALT, we click very near the point where they join Guides and make a perfect circle almost the total size of the document.

2. Fill the circle with a color we like and use the guides again, we again make a circle smaller in the center of the previous circle, only now we press Delete. Then deselect.

The color that I used in this tutorial is as follows: R: 25, G: 206, B: 166.

If we hide now Rules and Guides, pressed CTRL + R and go to View / Hide Guides…

3. Going to Layer / Duplicate… and created a copy of the layer, but before we look to the option is checked Preserve Layer Transparency.

Select white as foreground color.

Using the tool radial gradient mode Foreground to Transparent, make a gradient from top right to bottom left.

Then change the Layer Mode to Normal to Luminosity. If we want less reflection, can be reduced by changing the transparency of the channel.

4. This step is a bit more complicated. Create a new layer and go back to select the Gradient tool, only now use the gradient linear and the gradient will be Transparent Rainbow.

gradient will apply in 4 steps, first from the document left to 1/4 of it, then by 1 / 4 up the middle, then from the middle to 3/4 and finally from 3/4 to the right of the document.

Finally apply a Gaussian Blur of 5 pixels.

5. It’ll Filters / Distort / Polar coordinates… and we choose Rectangular to Polar. We press OK and change the layer mode from Normal to Overlay.

Stay what we should look similar to the example image.

6. Finally, create a new layer above the others and do CTRL + Click on the original Layer where we circle the CD to select it. We took the black as foreground color and will Edit / Stroke with the following settings:

Stroke with: 3 pixels

Location: Inside

Mode: Overlay

Then change the transparency of the layer to 40% and ready.
