If there is a doubt with beginner Photoshop users, this is like a text “fits” the outline of a circle. Although already in Photoshop 6.0 this can be done automatically, I know that many users still are using older versions of the program.
This tutorial is also the first in which the user will be using the commands in Castilian and in English, since most of Site users have the Photoshop in that language. Remember that the keyboard shortcuts are the same for both languages.
Tips:
Text around a Circle with Photoshop
1. Create a new document (CTRL + N), approximately 500×500 pixels. Then create a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N).
Then taking tool selection Circular, and holding down Shift to achieve perfect circles, we made a selection to take 70% of the image, more or less. (show image)
To center the circle, select all (Ctrl + A ) and go to Layer> Align to Selection> Vertical Centers ( Layer> Align To Selection> Vertical Centers ) and then Layer> Align to Selection> Horizontal Centers ( Layer> Align To Selection> Horizontal Centers ). Do not deselect.
2. We press CTRL + R to display the Rules and by clicking on the (vertical ruler left), keep pressing the mouse button and drag to image a guide, we will stop in the middle of the circle (see that they fit in the center). We do the same but with the horizontal ruler (above).
This leaves everything ready so we can start working with text.
3. Select Tool Text and type the first letter. Layer on the letter, while you press CTRL move the letter above the circle and focus with the guide.
I know are desperate to begin to rotate, but a very necessary step is important, it will save them some time later and avoid headaches.
When you have positioned the first letter, duplicate this layer as many times as letters has the word they want to write. In doing so, they ensure that all the letters “will orbit “at the same height above the circle.
4. With all created layers of text, so we only have to modify each and place the letter corresponding. Say we want to write the word “TEXT” around the circle. Then duplicate the original layer four times and modify the original T by the missing letters.
When this step is complete, hide all layers by clicking on the icon shaped eye, and leave visible only for now, the first letter of our word.
Now if you’re ready to start Spinning letters.
5. Let’s Edit> Transform> Rotate (Edit> Transform> Rotate). When the letter is surrounded by a square, a small circle appears in the middle of the character. We click on that circle and drag it where the two guides intersect.
Notice that the mouse pointer changes appearance, indicating that we can rotate the figure (or in this case, literally).
6. Clicking on the image and hold the button to move the letter, making it rotate based on an axis, which is precisely where the previous circle positioned. We run the letter to an appropriate place, depending on the total length of the word that we want to be. We repeat this step for each of the remaining characters, always remembering that before rotating, we need to move the axis (the small circle) toward the center where the guides intersect.
7. Chances, is that the word does not remain perfectly aligned. No matter, the only thing we have to really worry about is that all the letters remain equally spaced, that is, the space between each is the same, and that in all cases the rotation axis has been located in the same point, ie, in the center of the image where the guides intersect.
8. Then finally adjust the alignment of the whole word, we stopped at the layer of the first letter.
Really see that the eye icon on each layer, there is a free space, we click on all these areas and see how one appears chain.
We do that in all layers where there is a letter. The chain means that all layers have been “together “and that applied to one effect will affect all.
9. Finally, with all the “layers together “, we again go to Edit> Transform> Rotate ( Edit> Transform> Rotate ).
Again we run into the circle crossing Guides, and turn to rotate, this time, the whole word board, to place it where we want. We delete Layer was drawn where the circle and see what we learned to do.
